Virtual Art Gallery of Kalomo Jordan’s UV art work

Visionary artist Kalomo Jordan is a Middletown resident with years of experience in UV or Blacklight active artwork. This past week I had the honor to photograph the first of it’s kind, 360 degree art gallery.  The goal of the project was to display Kalomo’s work in it’s natural environment and perserve the gallery as it was. The rest of the information is embedded in the imagination of the viewer so I’ll let the work speak for itself. Enjoy!

An Earthship is a type of passive solar house made of natural and recycled materials. Designed and marketed by Earthship Biotecture of Taos, New Mexico, the homes are primarily constructed to work autonomously and are generally made of earth-filled tires, using thermal mass construction to naturally regulate indoor temperature. They also usually have their own special natural ventilation system. Earthships are generally Off-the-grid homes, minimizing their reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. Earthships are built to utilize the available local resources, especially energy from the Sun. For example, windows on sun-facing walls admit lighting and heating, and the buildings are often horseshoe-shaped to maximize natural light and solar-gain during winter months. The thick, dense inner walls provide thermal mass that naturally regulates the interior temperature during both cold and hot outside temperatures.

Internal, non-load-bearing walls are often made of a honeycomb of recycled cans joined by concrete and are referred to as tin can walls. These walls are usually thickly plastered with stucco.
The roof of an Earthship is heavily insulated – often with earth or adobe – for added energy efficiency.

Considered to be the most luxurious of all Earthships, the Phoenix, is a work of art. Entirely sustainable and off the grid it not only produces its own food,and electricity year round but it also collects it’s water. The Story

After making many ties to Costa Rican business it only seemed natural to be curious about it’s neighbor Panama. I had read that Panama was an up and coming Eco tourism destination and was recently noted number one in Lonely Planet’s review. After hearing all this great news I began to connect with Panamanian businesses. The first job I landed was actually my first choice.
Los Quetzales was a beautiful experience. It was quite close to Costa Rica and had a very similar environment to much of the interior of Costa Ricas countryside. The owner Carlos was a great person to meet. He had actually reforested an injured part of the cloud forest many years ago and built lodges for birders and eco tourist. The result of lots of hard work and knowledge of the diverse ecosystem of the cloud forest made for amazing results.

The virtual tour I made for him is completed for viewing but not done. It is a new style of tour that will actually be able to be edited by the owner of the lodge. I am working in tandem with his talented web designer to make it a complete multimedia voyage through his property. I am also leaving it open sourced so pictures can be added to the tour by adding links on the map. There is an example of an added picture on the current stage of the tour. Simple, Clean, Intuitive

The age of technology has been very good to us in the past few years. It has allowed us to conveniently execute our priorities with the least amount of resources expended. This change of pace has been for some of us a great advantage because we have to leave our houses alot less. This is especially important in the real estate industry where buyers many times had to travel huge distances to see a potential purchase. The 360 tour is a way around this huge use of fuel, time and budget. At one time the quality of the 360 degree virtual tour was very low and wasn;t that appealing to the majority of web businesses. The amazing thing about the technology being used in these virtual tours is the versatility. With the use of Adobe Flash the 360 degree virtual tour can now have elements of all kinds. The Story

Monte Azul is a luxury boutique hotel in the mountains and rainforest of southern Costa Rica. Monte Azul Hotel features seven elegant suites: four luxury riverside casitas and three suites at Casa Palo Alto, our hilltop villa. The landscaping was the most beautiful design I had ever seen. The restaurant was equally impressive, serving its own organically grown vegatables and it’s home made goat cheese.  It was the most relaxing time we had in Costa Rica yet and the photos where coming out great.

After weeks of processing the photos till they were to the standards of such a well designed website, the tours went live. Carlos Rojas Partner at Monte Azul

Kahlil did an outstanding job on the 360° views from various points at our hotel. The standard photo format was too limited to capture the “feel” of our unique setting and Kahlil’s vision was spot-on. Each shot was thought out carefully and executed with utmost care while still work quickly. The finished products added a new dimension to our marketing materials and we owe a great deal of our improved bookings to these photographs. I would not hesitate to recommend Kahlil Calavas!

The Story

Set amid the peaceful 33-acre gated Tulemar Gardens property that slopes down to its own exclusive sandy beach, this resort is one of class and exclusivity. After arriving from a long hot bus ride we were escorted by their private concierge to our room. We immediately realized that we were headed for a week of pampering and relaxation.

It was the probably the most James Bond place I had ever stayed. With dizzying 180 degree panoramic view of the resort’s private beach to a hot tub on our enormous veranda, we felt as if we had been upgraded from new business owners to CEOs of a large corporation. I was very nice to experience such a sophisticated getaway.

During the next week we spent our time slowly taking pictures of the accommodations on the Tulemar property and visiting the private beach to collect coral and shells. The Story

I recieved an email from a place called Casa Corcovado. It was one of the resorts that I had emailed and was most interested in. Casa Corcovada is an ecolodge that is so deep into the Corcovado reserve that it is only accessable by boat or horseback. Also one of the only ways to get there was to first take a small plane then boat the rest of the way, a true adventure. I also had heard it was National Geographics acclaimed most biologically intensive place on earth.

After a long rugged trip, we found ourselves surrounded by 300 foot tall trees and wild animals of all kinds. It was like being in an Indiana Jones movie. Once we arrived we were immediately taken back by how luxury the place was. I spent the next few days hiking in rainforest trails, swimming in waterfall pools and taking beautiful pictures of one of the most exotic resorts I had ever been to.
